The Lowdown: Oscar Blandi dry shampoo works by absorbing excess oil and product build-up from the hair, giving it back some volume and freshness leaving hair smelling clean without even washing.
It comes in both a powder and spray formula. The spray formula releases a poof of white powder onto the hair and is great because it’s easy to use, and hard to use too much. Simply spray the roots of your hair, let it dry for a minute the work it into your scalp with your fingers giving the roots a volume boost, then brush through to get rid of any excess product. My only complaints are that I find the spray formula runs out too fast, much faster than the powder. Also It tended to clog, but this was easily fixed by soaking the spray nozzle in warm water and unclogging it with a pin.Â
The powder in comparison uses much the same idea, only it’s up to you to sprinkle the powder onto the roots where you need it. I did find it easier to use too much product with this one, but it lasted a lot longer than the spray. The powder is white, but once brushed out it was completely unnoticeable on my platinum blonde hair and a good friends nearly black hair.
Both formulas cost the same and have the same lemon verbena scent, which I personally love but some may detest. I reminds me a bit of Mr. Clean lemon scent (is that weird?)
The Verdict: Definitely a must-have to keep around. Either one is great to have on hand for those times when you want to go longer between washings (who doesn’t love sleeping in a little longer?) or don’t have the time to wash and do a full blow-out (it’s saved my butt a few times when friends have made last minute plans!) It even works great if you accidently apply too much styiing product.
