Over-processing, heat styling and lack of proper care can leave hair feeling dry and damaged. There’s plenty of products out there to prevent damage and breakage, but what do you do when your hair has already reached the point of being dry and damaged? Its time to pull out the big guns for some serious hair repair and deep reconstructing.
The Basics:
When hair is damaged and breaking from over-processing, heat styling, highlighting etc. chances are its lacking in protein. Protein is what keeps hair strong and elastic and prevents it from breaking. The highlighting/bleaching process involves removing color and proteins from the hair giving it a pale-yellow blonde appearance. Remove too much of the protein and the hair is left damaged and easily breakable.
The Solution:
Restructure hair by adding back protein to strengthen hair and giving it moisture to soften and add shine.

A/G Haircare Review

I admit it, I'm a beauty addict. And while I absolutely love exploring and trying new products, this line of haircare products from A/G is one that I have used since I was a child and had to sneak it from my moms shower. The products work great on my heat appliance using, platinum highlighted hair and my moms super curly highlighted hair as well so I thought I would let you all know some of my favorite products from this line so you can check them out for yourself.
Started in 1991, A/G is a Vancouver, Canada (my hometown, I admit!) based haircare company whose focus is on high-quality salon haircare ingredients that are gentle for any type of hair. The products are especially gentle for color treated/damaged hair or hair that is just in need of a little moisture and they smell amazing to boot. What's even more great is they are relatively inexpensive compared to most salon brands, a bottle of shampoo/conditioner runs about $12. They are not much more than a drugstore brand but with salon-quality they are totally worth it. Here are some of my absolute all time favorite A/G products that currently reside in my shower:
A/G Tech Two Color Treatment Shampoo - this shampoo is probably one of my favorites for color treated hair, I find it really gentle and it smells great like tropical pineapple. A lot of top high-end salons use this shampoo as their go-to gentle shampoo for after color treatments I've noticed. It is pretty much the ideal moisturizing shampoo and it doesn't fade my color like some shampoos.
A/G Conditioner Light - while I don't wash my hair everyday I do like to use conditioner most days. I usually like really heavy moisturizing types but with daily use these can be too heavy leaving my hair weighed down and flat. This is why I love conditioner light, its just what it sounds like, a great daily light conditioner with just the right amount of moisture without weighing down the hair. If you like switching up your conditioners once in a while this is a nice light one to try in between.
A/G Fast Food - funny name, great product. This is one of my favorite creamy leave-in conditioners. Leave-in for me is a must and this one adds the right amount of moisture. Without it my super-fine-but-lots-of-it hair would be impossible to comb through. I use about a quarter size dollop and apply it my hair from the ears down only. I find this amount to be just right, as too much can weight my hair down.
A/G Sterling Silver conditioner - this is a purple conditioner much like my favorite purple shampoo that I use, its purpose is to tone down brassiness in blonde, highlighted or silver hair. I leave it on for 2 minutes or so once a week to keep my highlights looking bright and not brassy.
Anyway, I hope you enjoyed my reviews, if you'd like to try out any of these products be sure to check out the A/G website at http://www.aghaircosmetics.com/ where they have a list of products as well as a salon locator for salons that sell A/G in the United States and Canada.
